Sunday Services
Our main service is at 10:30am every Sunday, where we have vibrant modern worship, prayer, a message from the Bible, and a children’s group.
Join us for a cup of tea or fresh coffee after the service, which usually finishes around 12pm. Cakes (often homemade) and biscuits are also served.
Worship
During Sunday mornings at Life Church Matlock, we begin our time together by singing songs that remind us of the character of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
We give God our adoration for all He has done and all He is doing, and we spend time in prayer, reflection and response before hearing from His Word.
We often close services in response to His Word with sung worship. We aim for people of all ages to meet Him in our worship together each week, encouraging a spirit-filled life of worship.
Psalm 100
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Word
We believe that the whole Bible is the inspired Word of God, the infallible, all sufficient rule for faith and practice.
At Life Church we always preach and teach the truth of the Bible.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Sharing & Communion
The first Sunday of each month, is our communion and sharing service, where we focus on remembering Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, and victory over death and the grave, as He instructed us to do.
We also give an opportunity during this service, for people to share something with the rest of the church, it could be what God has been doing in their life, a passage from the Bible, a word from the Holy Spirit, a worship song, an answer to prayer or a request.
People can share whatever they feel the Holy Spirit has laid on their hearts to bring, with the aim of strengthening, encouraging and comforting each other, in order to build up the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 14:26
What then shall we say, brothers and sisters?
When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation.
Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.
Life Kids & Youth
On Sunday mornings, children and youth stay a part of the main service until 11am. After this time children and youth can join the following groups (lasting around an hour) until the main service finishes:
Life Kids (for children primary school age) - runs every week and normally includes a game, craft, Bible teaching, video and snacks.
Life Youth (for secondary school age up to 16 years) - runs three Sundays in the month with Youth and life kids joining together on the first Sunday of the month. Sessions include games, activities, video, discussion and snacks.
A crèche is available for children who are too young to go downstairs. The crèche can be used at any time during the service. Located at the back of the main hall, it is equipped with a variety of toys, games and books. It has a glass door and an audio link to enable people to still feel a part of the service.
